For those with a love of NYHC, the name Leeway is one you already know. Love em or hate em for their unique blend of hardcore, metal, thrash and more, there is no denying that they were one of the NY bands who broke down barriers and appealed to fans of so many different genres. Their front man Eddie was a madman. Flying into the crowd, climbing the rafters and going 100 MPH at all times. I was lucky enough to see them a few times back in the 80’s and it was always a wild show.
Eddie is back with a new project, The Eddie Leeway Show, and we were lucky enough to sit down with him to discuss it, Leeway’s history, his other band Truth and Rights, as well as Eddie’s life then and now. This is a long one so get comfortable and listen to Eddie’s tale.
COMBATANT 2015 demo came out fall 2015 and I wasn’t able to cop one of these awesome tapes back at the time, to be honest I just ordered a copy from S&A because I got in touch with Tyler who sings in the band and it reminds me that I did not own a copy yet. This is a tape I really like. This is definitly some kind of straightforward hardcore punk for those who share the same tastes than me, these six songs are sharpened as fuck and without compromise, with an old school vibe. I was pretty curious about what Tyler could tell me about his band because there’s not much info on the Internet, hope you’ll like this!

Here’s another interview for this column inspired by the people I follow on Instagram. Meet Chris X, you probably have already listened to (BURST OF RAGE, NYC VELOCITY, LIBERTY, COUNTDOWN…) but he’s also a very talented graphic/visual artist, and that’s the main reason why I decided to ask him a few questions about his work and lifestyle.
I have been lucky enough to send some quick questions to LIFE OF AGONY’s lead singer Mina Caputo during their latest German Tour (they’ll hit England in March, folks). Maybe some of you will think LIFE OF AGONY’s music is more about alternative metal/alternative rock and depressive lyrics than strickly positive hardcore punk (no kidding), anyway I’ve been into this band for ages right now, and I’ve always felt similar things while listening to both LOA’s albums and hxc punk records, probably because of Mina’s talented way of dealing with depression & loneliness, fighting with her personal life and choices which is a situation which requires guts. Thus, despite what you may think about LIFE OF AGONY, this is a hella positive band!
IMPACT’s a brand new band from Staten Island NY which has already recorded their first demo and EP. These two releases sound really different: they came up as a youth crew band (singing absolutely not posi things though!) and now, they sound a bit rougher, they remind me that 90s vibe of NYHC bands. The kind of shit I love!
