SPLITKNUCKLE is the very first hardcore/beatdown band I’ve been listening to in AGES. I must admit I really dislike this kind of music but I was surprised by the among of people linked with UKHC bands mentionned in DROIDxRAGE, some of them have already answered to interviews here, who seemed to be fond of this band. That’s the main reason I wanted to ask them a few questions, and also because this EP “Nothing Left Unsaid” is a pretty cool record!
I guess you already purchased JUDGE “Bringin’ It Down” and TURNING POINT “1988-1991” reissues. If so, please check this online demo (and download it for 1£) I discovered like a week ago. REFLECT hails from Manchester and their 4 songs demo is just great, in the vein of the two bands I was previously dealing with, I mean angry and melancholic straight edge tracks. Paolo (vocals) agreed to answer to a few question for DROIDxRAGE. Enjoy!
Don’t wanna write bullshit to introduce my current favorite “non-hardcore” band coming from the UK. Have a read, listen to the band, this shit is dope, and probably different from what you listened to this morning…
MERCY dropped their bandcamp link like a week ago on a FB group. The fact that this band sounded very different from the late bands I’ve listened to really attracted me for several reasons mainly because they can bring a really groovy aspect while going into pretty evasive spaces without being sketchy, I guess it’s because of efficient recordings and good production. Anyway, keep an eye on this band, folks!
Our very own Nate Bean’s new joint!
The UK has really stepped up on the metallic hardcore front in 2015. Repentance, Renounced and Breaking Point all dropped big albums whilst Digress, Venom Prison and Day Of Rights all emerged with savage demos. You can add Severed to that list. They just appeared out of nowhere with a venomous three track demo entitled ‘Malice’ that draws heavy influence from late 90’s bands like Fear Tomorrow, Buried Alive, early Hatebreed, All Out War and Ringworm. Have a listen here: https://severedct9.bandcamp.com/
THANK YOU ALL-MIGHTY 2015
AGGRESSION PACT 7″
PAINKILLER RECORDS has always been a record label I keep an eye on since the early days and this fact won’t change since I’ve been listening to one of their latest releases dozens and dozens of times on their bandcamp profile. AGGRESSION PACT first 7″‘s out on bandcamp since less than two weeks and this record’s already something I consider to be a hella 2015 release (like a lot of materials I’ll be reviewing today actually!)
AGGRESSION PACT are from Boston, MA and the first thing I can tell about this band is that they maintain Boston’s success in American Hardcore History – like mentionned on PAINKILLER bandcamp profile, a band “in the firing off rounds in the tuneful traditions of BGK, N.O.T.A., A.O.D. and other bands with acronyms for names.” Not forgetting an important detail: AGGRESSION PACT includes in his line-up members of several top American Hardcore bands from the 00s and the 10s (in my humble opinion): WASTE MANAGEMENT, GREEN BERET and MERCY KILLINGS.
AGGRESSION PACT’s sound is so closed to that Boston Hardcore tradition you won’t be surprised to meet both leather & spikes punx and more hockey jocks hardcore kids in their audience! Their tunes are like a call to action. Fast, short and very efficient songs, what would you expect from a good hardcore band?
